That Face

We had big plans for Memorial Day which fell through. But on a positive note, my Marine son came home from his MOS training and we got to spend the weekend with him. And sometimes, it's nice to have a long weekend just spent quietly. It gave me a chance to go through a ton of photos and get some scrapbooking done.

I may work in the scrapbooking world and I may consider it my hobby of choice but I must admit--I am no where close to being caught up. And that's okay. In all of the scrapbooking classes I've taken, books and magazine articles on scrapbooking I've read, scrapbooking blogs I've stalked, it took a class from Stacy Julian on BigPictureClasses.com called Photo Freedom to take away my guilt about always being behind. Because the bottom line is I will never be caught up and I have to be okay with that or scrapbooking becomes just another obligation that I can't keep up with. And I never want that to happen. So I long ago gave up chronological scrapbooking and instead scrapbook what appeals to me at the moment or what story is longing to be told. Well, this weekend, it was the story of the face.

My mom says that I make this face when I am very focused. I purse my lips. As I was sorting photos this weekend, I realized that I have a picture of me making the face, and individual pictures of three of my children MAKING THE SAME FACE. My kids look overwhelmingly like my husband so besides the fact that I know I was pregnant with them for nine months and gave birth to them, it is so nice to have photographic proof that they do have a little of their mother in them. And so, I scrapbooked it and will put it in my albums as evidence.

P.S. If you love the paper I used, just a reminder that tomorrow is the end of May, National Scrapbooking Month, and your last chance to pick this paper up. With a $35.00 purchase, you can get the Dotty for You paper packet for just $5.00. Don't miss out!
